Back from Las Vegas

I have just got back from Las Vegas after a week away watching the Hatton V Pacquiao fight. Las Vegas was great fun, the fight build up was like a Wembley day (very loud and very passionate) but the fight itself was disappointing. Pacquiao was impressive but Hatton was underwhelming. A Mayweather and Pacquiao fight now looks very likely and very appealing.

May 07 - The start of MyFootballClub

I first met Will in Paddington Station in early May 2007. I had got a train up from Bath, where I was based at the time. Will had just launched the first incarnation of the site and got over 20,000 people registering their interest. I had found out about the site from the BBC early on, signed up, and then emailed Will to see if he wanted any assistance in building a football/social  networking/management site. We met in the Bishops Head over a few pints of Guinness, talked football, talked cricket and spent about 10 minutes talking websites. Will wanted tech assistance, I wanted to help build the site - little did we know that 12 months later 30,000 of us would be basking in the glow of a Wembley win.

April 08 - The Wembley Run In

The Selling

Wembley ticket selling is not an exact science, You don’t get to go on a training course or get given a manual. We had to sort out a procedure of selling over the phone, online and in person.

Online was pretty easy. We had set up the shop after about 2 weeks of setting the site live. It is testament to its scalability that it stood up all this time without and issues and also with the amount of sales that were to be forced through it. We knew that the shop could export all order details for fulfillment quickly and accurately. Website just needed the tickets put on it and we were away.
